We would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust in handling your legal needs.

I have lived in South Carolina all of my life. I was born in Lake City which is in lower Florence County. Most people know of this area as the Pee Dee region of the State. I attended the Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina and obtained a degree in Political Science with a concentration in Pre-Law, and a minor in Business. After graduation from the Citadel, I decided to take one year off and worked in a local Charleston law firm for that year. I graduated from Cumberland School of Law, at Samford University in Birmingham Alabama in 2001. During law school I was active in intra murals, law school extracurricular activities, and student organizations. I also worked at a law firm for the last 2 years I was in school.

Upon graduation I knew I wanted to return to South Carolina and was fortunate to have an opportunity to Clerk for the Honorable Paul E. Short, when he was the Circuit Court Judge for the Sixth Judicial Circuit for South Carolina. Judge Short is now serving on the South Carolina Court of Appeals. After my Clerkship I worked in a variety of areas of the law and for several different law firms before deciding to hang out my own shingle in 2006.

Since I began practicing law, I have litigated both numerous jury trials and bench trials. In addition, I have participated in hundreds of contested court matters. My focus has and still is on increasing my skill in the courtroom. I strive to provide devoted, focused and if needed, aggressive representation for my clients. Practicing effectively in the State's Courts requires knowledge of the Court process. My desire is and has been to be the best trial advocate for my Client, in any case. Whether in Family Court, Circuit Court, or Magistrate's Court, dedicating myself to winning my Client's case is paramount.

In 2010 I attended the Houston Family Law Trial Institute hosted by the South Texas School of Law. This was an 8 day intensively focused trial training with some of the nations best trial lawyers serving as faculty and instructors for the course.

Again, in May of 2011, I attended the Houston Family Law Trial Institute because I knew I would greatly benefit from the training and education that it provided a second time. The benefits were immeasurable and can only be put into practice for my Clients. I believe that not being scared of a courtroom helps win the client's case. Therefore, it is my commitment to serve my Clients as a listener, a negotiator, and a trial advocate.

I have practiced in Columbia, South Carolina since 2004, and I have had my own practice the Lane Law Firm since 2006. I am a member of the following organizations:

  • Richland County Bar
  • South Carolina Bar
  • American Bar Association
  • Family Law Section of the SC Bar.
  • The Solo Practice Section of the SC Bar.
  • Heritage Foundation for Legal Justice

Our firm recently received membership in the "Lawyers of Distinction" group limited to the top ten percent of lawyers in America!

The South Texas School Of Law hosts the Family Law Trial Institute where some of the most experienced trial lawyers, judges, and professors combine to form the faculty for this 8 day intensive training where only 48 attorneys are selected to attend each year. The program focuses on all aspects of negotiating and litigation of a family law case. At the trial institute, the training combines both intense trial training as well as focused class room instruction on issues of divorce such as: custody evaluations, business valuations, and other issues of a contested divorce case. Successful completion of the program is the equivalent to 6 years of trial experience.
